By serving others in the office and in the community my staff and I continually practice our commitment to giving and caring. Over the years we have given back to the Marin community in a variety of ways. I began my nonprofit public service career in 1990 as an original board member for the Performing Stars of Marin, which helps children develop their self esteem, self reliance and social skills www.performingstars.org. With the assistance of friends in 1999, I founded the non-profit, The Young Men's Ultimate Weekend (www.ymuw.org), a modern, non religious rites of passage initiation that allows teenagers to face their fears and acquire the leadership skills necessary for a responsible adulthood. The YMUW has expanded with two boards of directors serving the Bay Area and provides workshops for parents, mentors, and divorced families. Our mission is to give families the knowledge, community resources, and support they need to create respectful and resourceful households. |

I also donate time for a non – profit organization, The Center for Living Education, providing wellness workshops for Bay Areas businesses speaking on topics related to nutrition, stress management, organizational team - work and ergonomics. This is a partial list of local companies that I've enjoyed educating employees at: Chevron, Embassy Suites, Marin County Office of Education, Morgan Stanley, LifeHouse, Canyon Manor and Dominican University. If you are a Marin County organization looking to provide an in – service workshop, please feel free to contact our office. There is no fee if the workshop is one hour or less. I also give half and full day workshops as well as staff trainings. A portion of my speaking fees are donated as community service to YMUW. Contact the office for more information. |

"The word physician means educator. Teaching patients how to take care of themselves is our primary objective. We want our patients to know how to eliminate their symptoms and, more importantly, how to live a healthy lifestyle that prevents future problems and promotes vitality.
Our commitment to educating our patients so they can learn how to take better care of themselves is revealed in a variety of ways. My staff and I have published articles that will help our patients improve their physical health and family life"

Why Our Young Men Are Suffering & What We Can Do About It The statistics on teens are sobering. Studies indicate that one in five has some sort of mental or behavioral problem, and that one in ten may have a serious emotional problem. What is happening in our families and culture that fosters this alarming situation?... Young Men Are Good and Ready Young men want to make the world safe; they want to be your heroes; they are ready to take good care of things. The question is: are adults prepared to give young men what they need to be successful? How Mentors Help Parents Our children are bombarded with contrary messages about the meanings of life from their friends, the media, and schoolmates at such a high speed that we, as parents, never experienced in our younger days. It takes effective modeling from other adults besides the parents to ensure that our children learn how to live as responsible members of the community... |
