An Easy & Powerful Way to Help People
As many of you know, I’m the founder of the non-profit, Young Men’s Ultimate Weekend, a rite of passage wilderness camp for young men, ages 13 - 20.
One of the leaders of YMUW is Brendan Byrd, the Event Coordinator for YMUW. He recently brought to my attention that there’s a serious shortage of donated blood all across America. He told me that prior to the Covid virus outbreak, the country enjoyed a five-day supply of blood. That supply has now been reduced to only a one day reserve.

Simply stated, because of social distancing, and an inability to hold physical blood drives at places of work, universities, etc., donations have plummeted by 40%-60% across the nation. A recent article in the New York Times New York Times highlighted this important health problem.
How to Help
Brendan and other men have started a virtual blood drive with the American Red Cross. Anyone 16 and older is invited to donate. See YMUW Volunteer Bruce Schneider donating blood in the photo above.
Here’s how it works:
- 1) click on this link
- 2) select the “pledge to give blood” button on the right
- 3) enter your details, then either follow the link to set and appointment or contact the American Red Cross at 800-733-2767 to schedule your donation
- 4) After pledging please set your appointment right away. They are very busy and most donation appointments must be set 2-4 weeks in advance.
- 5) Brendan or another volunteer may email you in the future to confirm that you were able to set an appointment and donate.
If you’re in good health, please consider doing a good deed by donating blood.
If you have any questions, please contact Brendan Byrd at 707-704-3748, or at berniebyrd@hotmail.com .

Announcements
Lisa Ling - The CNN show, - Life With Lisa Ling, is going to be highlighting my work with young men and their parents. It’s going to air in October, as originally planned. In order for me to continue preparing for the spike in interest in the non-profit I founded, Young Men’s Ultimate Weekend,
I’ll be away from the office on these dates: July 31 and August 3.
Dr. Matt Rosenstein will, as always, be here to provide great chiropractic care for you on those days, so that I can find some extra time to keep focused on getting YMUW ready for the increased exposure.
