Cure for the Common Cold?
Dear Patients & Friends,
The common cold is annoying.
Thankfully, it's not a serious health concern and yet the common cold can keep us from going to work, spending time with friends and family or accomplishing the things we want to do or need to do.
Almost everyone experiences the symptoms of a cold when the Rhino-virus, and/or certain strains of bacteria, become predominant in your body to the point where your thymus gland (home of your immune system) cannot remove these microbes fast enough to prevent them from building up in your cardio - respiratory system.
There's been a buzz recently in the medical community revealing a possible cure for the common cold by working with an enzyme naturally produced in our bodies that Rhino-viruses need in order to survive. A brief article reported by Harvard University reveals this latest research.
However, until there's a SAFE medical DRUG that can consistently cure the common cold, it's best for all of us to learn how to strengthen our own immune systems.
Relating to Your Cold
While I like to complain as much as anybody when I'm sick, I've learned that it's best to accept that many types of viruses and bacteria can overcome my immune system and make me sick - no matter how healthy I am. I recommend that all of you relax when you get the common cold, otherwise your own resistance to these microbes will add increased mental stress to this problem. Being upset with your cold further weakens your immune system.

Because I'm exposed to so many colds from patients that I see every day, I'm a huge fan of "cold prevention".
Every year, beginning in September and ending in May, I take specific supplements to help build up my immune system. By taking specific natural supplements over the years, I've allowed my body to protect itself against unwanted virus and bacteria, which has greatly minimized my chances of getting sick.
Here's What I Do
The most effective supplement I take cannot be purchased in a health food store. It's called Thymune (made by Karuna Labs), which is distributed to doctors only. It's made up of thymus tissue from cows and buffaloes that are raised organically for medicinal purposes.
This type of supplement is called a "glandular". This type of supplement cannot be found in a health food store.
This supplement has helped most of my patients prevent colds or dramatically minimize the negative effects of their colds.
I take this supplement once a day to strengthen my thymus gland, which is the organ that naturally produces immunoglobulins - antibodies that protect you from unwanted virus and bacteria. Additionally, I take a supplement that has large amounts of Echinacea and Vitamin C. Echinacea strengthens the mucous membranes of your nose, throat and mouth so it can better resist harmful microbes. Vitamin C, as most of you know, strengthens your arteries and your immune system.
I strongly recommend that you do these things even if you sense that you're about to catch a cold:
1) Drink lots of water - stay hydrated. Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration.
2) Rest. As much as you think you can continue your daily activities with the same intensity as you normally do, your body needs to slow down in order to heal more efficiently.
3) Add moisture to the air. Comfortable humidity levels help keep throat and nasal passages hydrated, helping you breathe better.
4) Minimize hard physical exercise like lifting weights. However, it is beneficial to maintain the gentle stretching program I've shown you because it improves lymphatic circulation.
5) Learn more about homeopathic or naturopathic remedies that strengthen the immune system.
Feel free to call me with any questions about the supplements I mentioned at (415) 491 - 0959.
True,
Dr. Mark
