Exercising during the Holidays

Dear Patients & Friends,

I know what's about to happen here in the office.

After Christmas and New Year's, most patients will be telling me the same words I've been hearing every January for 34 years, "I haven't exercised since the holidays began."

What's really scary is that some people are referring to July 4th!

OK, I may be exaggerating, but my point is this: DO NOT USE THE HOLIDAYS AS AN EXCUSE NOT TO EXERCISE.

How I Keep Up My Exercise Routine During Holidays

As many of you know, I perform my exercise routine twice a day, in the morning before work, and in the evening, after work. I do not go a gym, I do my exercise in my bedroom. I have my "total gym" of equipment that costs less than $200. Whether I exercise for 5 minutes or 30 minutes, I always have my gear nearby, ready to be used.morning

Whether you go to the gym to work out or if you do it at home, the goal is to keep your body moving. This is especially true if you're going to be having holiday spiritual experiences by consuming more sugar, alcohol, carbs, drugs, salt, and other things that make your digestive, hormonal and nervous systems malfunction.

It's likely that Santa consumes all of these "spiritual" foods during his travels, but he's consistently moving and exercising. If Santa can do it, then we can!

Announcements

Dr. Matt Coverage for December - On Monday, December 17, Dr. Matt will be treating patients all day. I need extra time to prepare for the upcoming annual retreat that my non-profit, Young Men's Ultimate Weekend, will be hosting. This is a critical meeting where our Board decides what events we'll produce for 2019. Equally important, we'll brainstorm about how we'll raise the funds to continue the work we started in 2000.
