Why is Lisa Ling of CNN Interviewing Me?!
Dear Patients and Friends,
As you know, I've devoted 20 years of volunteer service to the nonprofit I founded in 2000, the Young Men's Ultimate Weekend (YMUW). I realized, then, that the reason why young men were falling short of achieving their true potential was because the adults around them needed a roadmap that could show them how to effectively overcome the challenges of parenting in this rapidly growing era of digital technology.
We have now completed thirty-eight rite of passage, personal growth initiations, and the YMUW has transformed the lives of approximately 3,500 Bay Area young men, ages 13 - 20, by becoming more self-motivated to intelligently find their way through the demands of the adult world.
Our BIG Opportunity
During the past ten years, I've had the privilege of working with Warren Farrell (author of "Myth of Male Power") and John Gray (author of the "Mars/Venus" books), in the pursuit of helping parents and their sons have better relationships.

Warren was recently contacted by Lisa Ling, of CNN, because she wanted to develop a show based on the wisdom from the book he wrote with John called, The Boy Crisis. Once Lisa decided to create the show, Warren suggested that Lisa speak with me about the effective work that YMUW does with young men and their parents.
Lo and behold, I spoke with Lisa's producer and they have agreed to document the upcoming YMUW and the companion workshop that I teach for parents of the young men attending the YMUW!
The purpose of including YMUW in their show is to illustrate the need for rite of passage as a solution to the problem young men have of successfully launching into adulthood.
In my conversations with Lisa's staff, I've been impressed with their sincere desire to tell a positive story about the good men in our community who donate their time to helping young men become better prepared for the challenges of the young adult world.
The YMUW event is being held at the Cutter Creek Boy Scout Camp in the Santa Cruz mountains, from August 23-25, 2019.
Reaching Out for Support
I'm so grateful for this opportunity to make YMUW better known. I'm certain that our work will inspire other people and organizations to help young men become the positive role models they really do want to be.
I'm asking you to please consider informing parents with whom you communicate, to check out our upcoming YMUW wilderness adventure camp, where we combine outrageous fun with "resiliency training".
No Young Man is Turned Away
Although the $395 fee to attend the YMUW is a reasonable cost, we know there are families who will need financial support. Thankfully, this year we've been blessed to have sufficient scholarship funds to register young men whose parents truly need financial help (We're offering full scholarships).
You can quickly learn more about the details and benefits of our YMUW program by clicking here. If you're interested in speaking with me further about YMUW, please don't hesitate to contact me.
True,
Dr. Mark
